In SQL Server, let us consider the following data set

create table test(number int);
insert into test(number)
select 10;

Now execute the following query

select * from ...test

The result is 10

The question is “How do leading dots of table work in SQL Server?”

      select * from ...test  
    

    In this query the first dot indicates the default server,second dot is for default database name and third one is for default schema.

    You can write this query for other Linked server like

    select * from linkedservername.databasename.schemaname.test
